PB exporting to DTP (March 1, 2009, 10:29:30 PM) quote
I've just tried Thinkarch with a very full Entourage Mailbox - wanted to export 2000 + messages with attachments.
I found myself with separate items, having lost the .eml format and a completely "messy" database. It's probably because I selected some "wrong" options.
I'm currently archiving with EEAX into a Filemaker database, but as I don't want to upgrade my FMP version I intend to switch to DTP which I'm using for other data.
Is there a way to archive as .eml (as the basic script from Devon does) ?
Thanks

No, not with ThinkArch. It is designed to sort of pull the oldest individual messages out of each mailbox, rather than archive a full mailbox.

(And yes -- you should experiment with settings on a small mailbox to make sure you get the folder hierarchy you like.)

If you want to archive the .eml format, why not just use the included script from DEVONtech?

I did experiment with smaller samples since.
I'm still intersted because I liked these features of ThinkArch:
selecting the "age" of messages, retaining the whole of my mailbox's folders hierarchy, etc...
Actually I was going into modifying DevonThink scripts when I found Thinkarch through a google search and hoped it would save me some "home work".
Would'nt it be an option you could add ? (save as .eml) and retain the rest of the the archiving ?
btw:
the folders list is "flat" and does not reflect the actual nesting, it would help recognising which is which as sometimes folders get identical names but in different "nests".
An option to select or deselect all would also be nice...(I've got 78 folders)
accented characters are not always readable when saved in the database

I downloaded ThinkArch today to evaluate.

I'd actually like the "best of both worlds" option. I'd like the email in the .eml format as the DevonThink script does, but I'd like to retain the attachment next to and grouped with the .eml message as I believe ThinkArch does.

note that if ThinkArch does work as I believe I'm likely to purchase, and the .eml format + attachment would pretty much guarantee a purchase!

DITTO! Downloaded today, hoping I can spend the $11 instead of writing scripts myself (not that I can't, just don't have that much desire -- $11 is eaiser )
