Trial ended or not working? (November 8, 2011, 11:17:15 PM) quote
I've tried OG before and found that it worked fine. When the trial was over it still was working for 8 hours before it stopped and had to be restarted. Now I decided to buy it, but first I upgraded to 4.4.3 so that it would work with the new Growl 1.3.
But it's not. When I test it manually, every message is shown just fine. But when I don't push the button, nothing happens.
Maybe it's because the trial ended. Maybe it's not. And I'm reluctant to pay for something that just might work.
So my question is: Does OG still work 8 hours after startup as it says when I launch it?
The debug log states the following:
[2011-11-08 23:31:51] idle: 1; stuck: 0; go_ahead:true; editlog:false; editrss:false; reorderrss: false; displayalert: false; front:false; main: true
[2011-11-08 23:31:51] Trial Ended

Thank you for a (hopefully) truly great invention!

Yes it should still work in trial mode for 8 hours each time
You quit and relaunch. Please make sure to close the OmniGrowl window or keep the application in the background for normal notifications to work. In order to keep the interface responsive, normal notifications are surpressed when OG is the active app and it's window is open.

Unfortunately it didn't work. It seems that OG shuts off almost immediately after launch. This is what the debug log says:

Then it just continues to say the same thing hour after hour. Note that I have more RSS-feeds active than The New York Times. Any ideas?

I apologize for the inconvenience. As I said, it is intended that the trial works for 8 hours after the trial period has ended. Unfortunately I'm on holiday until the end of November and cannot look at the source code to see if there may be a bug. I will in early December. In the meantime, I recommend that you pay for it to register. In your particular case, if you're not satisfied with the way it's working, I will be glad to issue you a refund.
