AppleScript Error -10000 (March 24, 2009, 12:56:11 AM) quote
I downloaded OmniGrowl on Thursday and it was working fine until yesterday. Now a few seconds after I start OmniGrowl I get the following error dialog.

AppleScript Error
AppleEvent handler failed. (-10000)

Here is a snippet from the Console log.

3/24/09 5:52:38 AM OmniGrowl[6912] "ls: /Users/badgerXC/Library/Application Support/OmniGrowl/: No such file or directory"
3/24/09 5:53:16 AM OmniGrowl[6912] An exception was thrown during execution of an NSScriptCommand...
3/24/09 5:53:16 AM OmniGrowl[6912] *** -[NSCFArray objectAtIndex:]: index (0) beyond bounds (0)

Does anyone have any ideas on what might be going wrong?

I haven't seen this error yet. The console log is not conclusive. The first message may be normal and not related to the error. The array object message may have to do with reading preferences. My guess is that your preferences file somehow got corrupted. Can you please try quitting omnigrowl, then deleting the preference file (trash), then restart omnigrowl?

you may unfortunately need to redo your settings.

the file is at:

~/Library/Preferences/com.wbc.omnigrowl.plist

Ok. I killed OmniGrowl, trashed the prefs file, and restarted. Still getting the same error message.

After playing with the tests, it seems that the problem is with the connection to iCal. All of the iCal tests throw this message. All of the other tests complete successfully.

Does that help?

I just started getting this error message today. I found out I was not up to date, and upgraded to 3.5.4, didn't help. I found this forum and this thread and trashed my plist, didn't help.

I have no idea what it is. I don't have much enabled in the first place. I can say that the messages seem to come in pairs.

I did install two Apple updates this morning: Safari 4.0.1 and some Java update. Since the original poster had the problem several months ago, I don't suppose that is an issue.

I'm having the same issue. It only started when I upgraded to 3.5.4, and when you click away the error it comes back within 10 minutes.

I have the same entry in the console:
5/08/09 1:03:34 PM OmniGrowl[1221] "ls: /Users/lantrix/Library/Application Support/OmniGrowl/: No such file or directory"
5/08/09 1:12:12 PM OmniGrowl[1221] An exception was thrown during execution of an NSScriptCommand...
5/08/09 1:12:12 PM OmniGrowl[1221] *** -[NSCFArray objectAtIndex:]: index (0) beyond bounds (0)

I'll try disabling the iCal options, and see if it goes away.

Running: 10.5.7 OSX

For those that had this error, can anyone confirm that it's been fixed in recent OmniGrowl versions, please?

I can't help. I don't currently have it installed as Growl is not snow leopard compatible. As soon as they get to 1.2 I'll try again.

That being said, I did install the newest version right after I upgraded and I think I got the error message, but something else went wonky. That's when I discovered the Growl issue and uninstalled everything.

Growl 1.2 is on beta 4 and it's really quite rock solid on Snow Leopard. I've been using Growl since day 1 on Snow Leopard, from 1.2 beta 1 or 2 I think. No problem installing it in my opinion.

Okay! I have installed Growl 1.2b5 and OmniGrowl 3.7. No error messages so far (about 10 minutes, lol).

Thanks for the tip.

I just started getting this message. I'm running 1.2.1 and have had no trouble prior to the past two days. Now I get it when I try to shut down and it stops the shut down. I'm having the same action of it popping up every 10 minutes or so.

The only thing that I believe I have done differently is to enable the MobileMe beta calendar, which, I believe, updates data on my iCal calendar. I don't know if that would have done it or not.

Thanks for any advice.

Ditto. I've tried reinstalling omnigrowl, trashing the preferences and repairing permissions. After I start omnigrowl I get the message a bit more frequently than once a minute. Also, OmniGrowl never really start: i.e., no icon, no alerts, etc.; however, I do get the growl message that omnigrowl has started. The quit omnigrowl applescript does work: I get the growl alert that omnigrowl is exiting, the AppleEvent error message panels stop popping up, and the syslog error messages (e.g.,

9/9/10 11:28:10 PM OmniGrowl[11078] An exception was thrown during execution of an NSScriptCommand...
9/9/10 11:28:10 PM OmniGrowl[11078] *** -[NSCFArray objectAtIndex:]: index (0) beyond bounds (0)

) stop.

Suggestions?
