Cast Away 2.8 has been released. iTunes finally allows 3rd party applications to get the release date of podcast episodes directly. This means that Cast Away no longer has to read the podcast file metadata directly (or need to attempt other funny tricks), which means it can now work much faster and more accurately. Although it was a minor under-the-hood change, the major performance boost warrants a new point release. You must upgrade to iTunes 8.1 or higher to take advantage of this feature.
